This Step Chest is a modern take on a traditional piece with a different emphasis on the functionality. The unit was designed to be a pull out pantry for food and wine but also tall storage for other household items.

The idea behind the design was to allow for easy access although the unit is situated alongside a staircase with a slope of some stairs above it.

 

Lower boxes are opened from the lower steps

to ease accessibility.
